Where to Stay in the Dominican Republic
BlueBay operates a number of hotels in two locations. In fact, our flagship, adults-only Hotel BlueBay Villas Doradas on Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata is one of the best hotels in the Dominican Republic. Puerto Plata is located on the north side of the island and benefits from perfect conditions for the ultimate relaxing break while still retaining the feel of a lively city.
Boca Chica, on the southern coast is true tropical paradise. The clear blue waters, white sand and calm conditions make it perfect for snorkeling and diving. The BlueBay Hotel BelleVue Dominican Bay, is the perfect place for a family holiday in the Dominican Republic. It has two swimming pools, nighttime entertainment and plenty of activities for the kids.
The Dominican Republic weather is tropical and generally warm. The dry season runs from December through to April; these are the coolest months of the year and are considered the most comfortable with an average temperature of around 24C in January and February. Due to the prevailing trade winds, the southern and inland areas of the Dominican Republic are often hotter during this time.
The wet season runs for the other 6 months of the year and temperatures are generally in the region of 30 °C. The humidity is also higher. Generally the north eastern areas and the mountains receive the most rainfall. The wettest month is usually September.
