Weather in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
Today I'll be recapping my vacation last year to the Dominican Republic, specifically the area of Puerto Plata. The island is a beautiful tropical destination, providing an escape from the stresses of everyday life at an affordable price. This makes it an excellent destination for travelers like myself who are on a budget.
My first tip for traveling in the Dominican is to choose a good resort and book through a travel service. Like many tourist destinations, some parts of the Dominican outside of the resorts are underdeveloped and unsafe. Therefore it is advised that tourists stay within the resort for safety and their comfort. Choosing a large resort makes this easy, and many have shops, restaurants, and even doctors, so there really is no need to go elsewhere. I booked my travel through the website CheapCarribean.com, and got an excellent deal. The trip was all-inclusive, and covered airfare, lodging, meals, drinks, and activities for only $800 per person for 7 days and 6 nights. I traveled during the month of July, which is typically an off-season for the Dominican, which did help improve the rates.
The weather in Puerto Plata was excellent, with only one day having a brief rain shower. Otherwise it was sunny and in the 85-90 degree range daily. The resort, Lifestyle Tropical, has two main pools, plus beach access. I spent a lot of time enjoying the sun oceanside, with a cold drink in hand!
Besides enjoying some down time, I also participated in a day trip excursion, which included waterfall jumping, zip lining, and horseback riding. It was quite an adventure and a lot of fun! I highly recommend checking out the day trips from the resort if you are looking to mix things up a bit. They include transportation and a guide, so you don't have to worry about a thing!
All in all, Puerto Plata offers an affordable option for travelers on a budget looking for an all-inclusive option with plenty of sun and sand. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and got in plenty of adventure and relaxation. I highly recommend you consider it as a destination for your next trip!
