Dominican University of California San Rafael
Dominican's Angelico Concert Hall (now known as Angelico Hall) was built in 1922 for $140.000. The Dominican Sisters mortgaged the entire campus property to borrow the money from a San Francisco bank. The name alludes to Saint Thomas Aquinas, a 13th Century Dominican academic and theologian who was known as the 'Angelic Doctor'.

Today, Angelico Hall is home to University events including recitals, concert series and the Leadership Lecture Series, featuring leading policy makers and literary luminaries such as Al Gore, Madeleine Albright, Isabel Allende, Tom Brokaw and many others.
In 2010, Angelico Hall served as the host venue for the 2010 California Governor’s Debate between Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown.
Of historical note, Angelico has also featured:
- The first ever Marin County appearance by the San Francisco Symphony in 1926
- The first production (outside of Paris) of “The Ballet of Joy” by Alfred Heil in 1929
- “The Wedding Cantata” by Bach played for the first time in America in 1930
